Sustainability: Discovery Science

Build it bigger - Rebuilding Greensburg
Architect Danny Forester follows the residents of Greensburg, Kansas, as they rebuild their town with innovative eco-friendly materials and techniques.

In May 2007, Greensburg, Kansas was leveled by one of the largest tornados in U.S. history. Very few structures remained in the aftermath of the deadly EF5 tornado, and the town lost everything. Inspired by the desire of the townspeople to rebuild ‘green,' Planet Green is chronicling the rebuilding of Greensburg into an environment-conscious town. The epic docu-series is a mixture of compelling human stories and amazing feats of green building and engineering that will give the people of Greensburg a new home and a new town built for the future.

Green Wheels
What does the future hold for cars when petrol is in short supply? ‘Green Wheels' takes viewers on a fast-paced thrill ride to uncover the most cutting-edge, yet environmentally sound muscle and race cars. Get an inside look under the bonnet of tomorrow's most innovative, alternative cars -- from Ohio State, USA's ‘Buckeye Bullet' - the electric car that smashed the 315-mph land record, to Jeff Simmons' lightning-fast road racer - the Indy Racing League car powered by corn oil. In the quest for alternative adrenaline, ‘Green Wheels' proves there's no shortage of fuel.
